Description:

For almost 2000 years the greatest question of Christology has been "Was Jesus just a man or is He God?" In this message, focusing on a single verse, we will discuss in simple language how Jesus responded to that question. Using two Greek mythological characters as a metaphor we will navigate the troubled waters between two heretical views and firmly establish that Jesus is one with the Father in essence but separate from the Father in person. We will then embark on a quest to determine just how Jesus is one with the Father. Using the immediate context as a guide, we will incorporate all of Scripture and find that Jesus is One with the Father in power, protection, provision, purpose and perpetuity. In this way we will navigate the treacherous waters where heresies loom on either side to a clear and full understanding of Jesus' relationship with His Father-- and therefore safely make our way between Charybdis and Scylla.
