Let The Nations Rage! My Hope is in the Lord!  01/21/2018

On Sunday evening, January 21, 2018 I preached a sermon entitled "Let The Nations Rage! My Hope is in the Lord!"  It was an exposition of Daniel 6:16-28, where Danei was miraculously delivered from the lion's den.  I found a connection between the events that were happening to Daniel in chapter 6 of his book and what David wrote half a millennia earlier in the opening of Psalm 2... read more...

Thriving In The Midst of the Storm  09/10/2017

As I write this short devotion, Hurricane Irma is bearing down (or up as the case may be) upon Florida with a potential fury that has not been experienced here in over a decade.  And as you know, it just so happens the storm will hit Fort Lauderdale at about the same time we would be gathering for worship Sunday morning.  Since that worship service will not be possible, (all services have been cancelled because of the storm) I wanted to provide you with this short devotion to read on Sunday morning as you do your own devotions.  I pray that the lesson Jesus has for us will bring comfort and conviction even in the midst of the storm. read more...

In 1 Corinthians 1, Paul emphasizes the centrality of the cross – a concept vital to his personal ministry and preaching, and equally critical to the function and purpose of the church. To Paul, the message of the cross is simple and straightforward, bold and true. Like the beauty of the Gospel, men’s efforts to enhance or diminish this message do nothing but empty the cross of its power.

But what exactly is the message of “the cross”? What would the cross say if it could speak? read more...

New Directions for Fall 2012  10/03/2012

Kaye and I had a wonderful time away, both here in the States and in Haiti and we thank you for your prayers.  (I'm still trying to convince Kaye to look at Haiti as an exotic vacation spot, but I'm not sure she is buying it!)  But we are both excited to be back at work and are looking forward to the many events planned in the weeks and months ahead.

There are a couple of new directions ramping up soon at New Hope that I want to make sure you are aware of. read more...
